Are you a working parent whose child misses out on all the fun because of your work schedule? Maybe your children need something to keep them engaged and moving after school instead of sitting on their devices? Or maybe you want your child to have the opportunity that was never available to you as a child? We have an opportunity that will change your lives for the better!
*Children must be enrolled in Kindergarten to participate in the program.
TIMES
3:00-6:30pm Monday-Friday
GCAPA does not follow CMS School Calendar as we service 16 different school districts/charter school/parochial schools. Please check the GCAPA Google Calendar for studio closures. Winter and Spring Break Camps will be alternative options during the closed periods.
CLASSES
Rising Stars will take classes each week in

Tap
Jazz
Acro
Hip-hop
Musical Theatre Dance
​Select classes already on the Schedule will integrate Rising Stars so that each Star can cover all genres of dance. Some class times may lengthen the day at no extra cost. Classes may be skipped for a special event! Hip-hop may be implemented on special days throughout the season.
HOMEWORK
When not dancing, Rising Stars will be finishing homework, reading and, if there is time left over, playing games and socializing!
The first priority is homework and education. Each day, Rising Stars will learn time management skills when budgeting their time between classes and homework. Dance Classes will run until 5:15 or 5:30. After Classes, dancers will finish homework or read.
CREW
A mix of Dance Instructors and After School Counselors will lead activities and help with homework throughout the experience.
After School Counselors are High School Juniors and Seniors who will help Rising Stars manage their time, help with homework and lead social activities for the groups. An adult teacher will supplement with homework help. All Dance Classe are taught by specialty instructors.
TRANSPORTATION
Rising Stars can transfer from school to studio via Public School Transportation and Parent Carpools.
CMS recognizes GCAPA as an Afterschool Program and will drop your child off once your Request has been approved. This request typically takes 5 business days. Current GCAPA parents are available from select schools to carpool to the studio. Parents of Rising Stars will be responsible for their own transportation home promptly at the conclusion of each day. We also recommend a charter like Olympic. For enough students from the same school, we may be able to acquire a group rate.
PERFORMANCES
Rising Stars will have the option to perform during the Christmas Season as well as the Spring Recital.
Rising Stars will have the same opportunities as the Sparkles and Stars in GCAPA. More information is available on costuming and recital participation when you inquire.
SNACKS
Please pack a healthy snack for your Rising Star each day in a thermal container.
A hungry mind is a confused mind. Be sure to pack fruits and vegetables to keep your Star super sharp while they work on their homework and gather energy for dance classes.
ATTIRE
Each Rising Star will receive one FREE uniform leotard, 2 pairs of tights, and a dance bag for the program when enrolled by 8/1. Additional uniforms and all required shoes are available exclusively at the Big Apple Boutique inside the GCAPA Lobby.
Rising Stars will need to purchase all uniform shoes available in the BAB. A schedule with uniform assignments will be available to those who inquire.
REGISTRATION
Annual Registration Fees cover August - June Afterschool membership. $75 per dancer before 7/31, $100 starting 8/1.
Registration fees are non-refundable under any circumstances and hold your spot in the program. Since placement is limited, spots are not held without a registration fee.
TUITION
The monthly tuition for After School is 10 installments of $325. The 1st installment is charged to your card on file once when you register and then on the 1st of each following month. The 1st installment is held back and used for you last 1/2 month's tuition. August and June are each half-months.
This fee amounts to approximately $5-$8/hour for care and classes. Those who pre-register before August will be charged a non-refundable registration fee of $75 to hold your spot as space is limited.
Prorata fees available to those who register late if space is available. A list of other fees is available to those who inquire. All fees are transparent and available. Registration fees apply. Registration fees $75 per child if registered before 7/31, $100 thereafter.
DROP-IN/SINGLE-DAY CARE
A great way to trial the Afteschool Arts program is by Drop-in. Or maybe you only need one day of care. Either way, we've got you covered! Book your drop-in here.
Tuition is non-refundable once booked.
WITHDRAWAL
Due to the limited spacing available for this program, at least 60 days notice is required for withdrawal under every circumstance.
Tuition will be owed and charged for 60 days following your written or emailed withdrawal notice. Kids are welcome to continue to participate for the remainder of their tuition. Attendance will not be permitted beyond the final drop date.
MAKE-UPS
Missed days may be made up in GCAPA's regular classes within the paid tuition period, only when called out before 2pm.
Tuition is not prorated for missed days. If a dancer must miss a day of Afterschool, they may make-up the missed class ONLY if their parent calls them out by 2pm to make the Crew aware. When you register, you will be given a list of class options for make-ups.
